Des Moines, Iowa: The Rev. Gary W. Graves, Secretary of the General Conference, announced today that an error was made in the text of a proposed Constitutional amendment as it was presented for voting, and which subsequently failed to pass. Amendment #1 of the five constitutional amendments that were approved by the 2016 General Conference--and which narrowly failed to be ratified--included a sentence which had been removed by the legislative body.

Pastor Mark Fuerstenau and members of Mount Cory and Pleasant View United Methodist churches recently loaded two-and-a-half tons of books onto an old school bus and trailer bound for Henderson Settlement in Frakes, KY. Three years ago, Fuerstenau went to White Oak, TN, a satellite mission of Henderson Settlement, where he got the idea for the bookmobile. More than 4,000 books were donated by nearby communities. On a busy Saturday morning, March 19th, 126 volunteers from the Farmer and Ney churches in Northwest Ohio showed up to package 10,000 meals. The two churches, literally right down the road from each other, cross paths in all aspects of the community including school, work, being neighbors and relatives.
