Pastor Mark Fuerstenau and members of Mount Cory and Pleasant View United Methodist churches recently loaded two-and-a-half tons of books onto an old school bus and trailer bound for Henderson Settlement in Frakes, KY. Three years ago, Fuerstenau went to White Oak, TN, a satellite mission of Henderson Settlement, where he got the idea for the bookmobile. More than 4,000 books were donated by nearby communities. At 4:30 a.m. most mornings during Advent, Monica Kleman leaves home to drive to the Findlay Elder Beerman where she stocks shelves and unloads trucks of inventory all day. The extra cash would come in handy for household, school and other expenses plus help provide a nice Christmas for the family of seven.
