FREE Lunch & Learn Event
Gilboa UMC, a Caring Points Church, invites all UM Northwest Plains churches to a Reentry Simulation on Wednesday, October 17th from 11AM to 1:30PM at the Arthur Ligibihl Community Center in Pandora.
“Research shows and we know from our own experience at Gilboa that when people and their families, who are struggling with a reentry experience, have a supportive, caring community, everyone does better. The individual does better. The family does better, and the community does better. So, we are providing this opportunity for people working in the criminal justice field, community members, and people impacted by reentry to come together, learn from each other, and hopefully, make our communities safer and healthier for everyone,” says Gilboa’s pastor, Reverend Ruth Carter-Crist.
Participants will receive a FREE lunch and gain a better understanding of the challenges and issue facing our friends, families, and neighbors reentering to our communities after being incarcerated. In this fun interactive simulation, participants experience a small part of the obstacles met, the decisions made, and the consequences faced by people in all different circumstances and roles living around us every day. Over lunch, the group will explore how everyone can work towards improving their community.
